Matthew James Publishing is thrilled to announce the acquisition of a new female-ed gangland thriller ‘Pandora’s War’ from author M.M. Bailey. The book was acquired by publisher James Shaw following a round of open submissions. Pandora’s War’ is set for release in November 2024.
‘Pandora’s War’ follows an underworld figure hell-bent on rescuing vulnerable women from deadly situations. Far from a saint herself, yet operating with vigilante-like intentions, Pandora works from the inside to put a stop to abuse and trafficking within criminal gangs.
This novel marks the first time M.M. Bailey has stepped into the world of adult fiction. “It was quite scary leaping into the world of adult writing but strangely freeing at the same time,” Bailey adds. “I felt I could push myself and my writing so much further and have fun writing something much darker than I’d been able to before.”

The writing process behind ‘Pandora’s War’ was driven by a desire from the author to see better female representation within the genre. “I wanted to see a strong and bold main female character who was willing to do anything to reach her goal,” says M.M. Bailey. “Pandora has had a brutal past, but that made her into the strong woman she is. Her experiences shaped her to want to destroy everything that had caused her and others like her so much pain and misery.”
‘Pandora’s War’ represents a further expansion of the Matthew James catalogue, as the imprint focuses its efforts on quality genre fiction. The book will be published in November 2024.
