Tiny Tree is Attending the First Annual Ormsgill Book Festival!

posted by Anthony on November 9, 2017

We’re very excited to announce that, on November 30th, Tiny Tree Children’s Books will be attending the first annual Ormsgill Book Festival. We are honored to have been invited by the organisers and, alongside authors Nicola Hulme and Russ Brown, we’ll be reading books, hosting talks and discussing everything to do with books and publishing with the children from Ormsgill Primary School and other schools in the area. It’s very exciting to be able to talk with young people – and potential stars of the literary world in years to come – at events like this and we can’t wait for the event to start.

Event organiser Laura Reid is passionate about books and knows the importance of bringing children together to celebrate literature in this way. Here’s what she had to say about the event:

Ormsgill Book Festival is a school-based event, which will host a number of children from other local schools, as we aim to bring author events and book based workshops to a number of children who would not usually get access to such experiences.  After failed attempts to get the children involved in other local book festivals I decided the only way to ensure our children could have access to these types of experiences was to organise one ourselves.  I am really excited (and I’ll admit a little nervous) about the upcoming festival, but I hope the momentum and success will build making it bigger and better in the coming years, really inspiring children in a myriad of ways.”

We’re hoping that the 2017 Ormsgill Book Festival is the first of many and we’re so happy to be involved. Alongside a day of talks, readings and workshops we’ll also have books on sale in the afternoon, with opportunities to have copies signed by some of our authors too. We can’t wait to tell you all about it and share lots of wonderful photos later this month.
