In It’s Working, Marie, the youngest of a large family, experiences vague feelings of sadness on the wedding day of her brother, Tony. It dawns on her that her sadness is because she feels she has “lost” her brother who was like a leader among the diverse members of the family.
Family life seems to suffer. Gradually, however, other members begin to assume the role that had once belonged to Tony and the family starts to get along again. Changes in the family can be painful but things can get better.
